Introducing plays DJ Shadow's Endtroducing... @ HMV Forum, London 15/04/2011

It is often hard to trust a band that aims to accomplish the hard task of paying tribute to a master work, or a master itself. It can sometimes even be seen as pretentious. However, when you might never get the opportunity of attending the live performance of a certain piece, you sometimes take the chance on a tribute band… After all, Jimi Hendrix even proved that a cover could be better than Bob Dylan’s original, didn’t he? This is why I took a chance on Introducing, paying tribute to DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing… 1996 masterpiece.

The 9-piece band did a magnificent work of reproduction, especially on the instrumental level. Unfortunately, the voice effects were poorly imitated and lacked character and authenticity, in opposition to the original album. It is quite a shame, because the band puts a lot of effort and passion in what they do, they try to reach perfection, however it might not be the ideal approach, as they miss the goal; and as a result, sound like an average copy that lacks identity.
