Peter Doherty Live @ O2 Sheperd's Bush Empire, London 10/05/2011

At some point in his carrier, it was common knowledge that Peter Doherty found it hard to show up at his own gigs, often leaving fans bitter and disappointed. However, when he does turn up, Doherty surely knows how to entertain a crowd, and he puts a lot of passion into it.

The ex-Libertine managed to please a sold out Shepherds' Bush Empire, performing for almost an hour and a half on his own. He played over 20 songs including 6 by the Babyshambles, 4 songs from his last solo album Grace/Wastelands, and 8 classics by the Libertines, such as Don't Look Back Into The Sun and What A Waster; which seemed quite ambitious with his acoustic guitar only.

The crowd has also contributed to make the show as delightful and enchanting by singing along during the whole gig. Songs like Time For Heroes or Albion (for which Alan Wass joined in with the harmonica) were particularly well acclaimed. The apparition of two ballet dancers on stage during For Lovers, Last Of the English Roses, Smashing and What Katie Did, illustrated perfectly the poetic and romantic atmosphere.

Doherty even took the time to pick up some fan mail thrown to the stage and read it out loud. All together, the rockstar offered a very intimate and personal show, and seems to have well taken up with his public again.
